Intent and strategy, control 3 of 12
I-03 Build a research packet before strategic content
Gather enough real evidence to choose the page, offer and format before drafting. Do not let an LLM's plausible market description substitute for research.
- Priority
- High priority.
- Hard gate
- No
- Change class
- READ_ONLY: Inspect authorised evidence.
- Quality bucket
- Intent and user-task fit
Why it matters
Writing before gathering evidence leaves a page built on assumptions instead of what searchers, customers and competitors actually show. The result tends to be generic content that repeats what already exists, which does little for readers or for AI answer engines looking for something worth citing. Research first gives the draft real material to work from.
Evidence to review
- Dated research packet linked to the target intent and proposed URL.
How to implement
- Combine live result samples, first-party queries, customer questions and relevant primary sources.
- Record country, language, device and collection date.
- Identify what the page can add beyond the current alternatives and where evidence remains missing.
How UltimateSEO checks this
Needs your evidence. No automated check covers this control, so it stays UNKNOWN until evidence is supplied.
Evidence needed: the research packet (audience, task, live result format, existing canonical URL, objections) prepared before strategic pages are written.
States used: PASS, FAIL, UNKNOWN, NOT_APPLICABLE or BLOCKED. UNKNOWN is never shown as a pass. How states work.
