Intent and strategy, control 12 of 12
I-12 Solve strategy problems before copy problems
A poor offer, wrong intent, absent proof or unsuitable page type is not fixed merely by changing prose length or tone.
- Priority
- High priority.
- Hard gate

- AUTO_WITH_TEST: A candidate requiring relevant tests.
- Quality bucket
- Intent and user-task fit
Why it matters
Polishing the wording of a page that targets the wrong intent, uses the wrong page type, lacks evidence or has a weak offer leaves the real fault in place. Readers still do not get what they need, and search engines and AI answer engines still have no reason to prefer the page. Treating a strategy fault as a style fault wastes effort and hides the cause.
Evidence to review
- Diagnosis linked to observations and an intervention hypothesis.
How to implement
- Test page purpose, offer fit, evidence and completion barriers before editing style.
- Separate strategic, factual, technical and editorial findings.
- Choose the smallest intervention that addresses the diagnosed cause.
How UltimateSEO checks this
Needs your evidence. No automated check covers this control, so it stays UNKNOWN until evidence is supplied.
Evidence needed: proof that strategy questions (audience, intent, canonical URL, evidence) were settled before copy was written.
States used: PASS, FAIL, UNKNOWN, NOT_APPLICABLE or BLOCKED. UNKNOWN is never shown as a pass. How states work.
